Artist Statement

Making an object requires that you organize the structure. Everything that exists takes up space. The uses of common art denominators: density, rigidity, opacity, uniformity and geometric shapes aare used to build a relationship between objects . Observers are asked to go beyond the objects and construct a relationship between themselves and the object. I create images that relfect on the interplay of form on form.
In order to provide the viewer with a unique encounter I seek to create a direct confrontation with nature through sensation and symbolic interpretation. My intent is, as in the words of Barnett Newman “The visual experience of the painting (should be) a single experience... as single as the encounter that one has with a person, a living being.”
